Our Story

Legacy

Built on the Rock

Solid Rock Christian Center was built on conviction.
In 1992, this ministry was incorporated in Colorado Springs as Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Under the leadership of Pastor Calvin R. Johnson, the vision was simple:
Preach Christ.
Stand on the Word.
Build lives on the Rock.

That foundation mattered. Prayer mattered. Faithfulness mattered. The early years established something steady and sincere — a church committed to truth and to people.

Expanding the vision...

In 1993, the church transitioned from Solid Rock Baptist Church to Solid Rock Christian Church.
This reflected a broader Kingdom reach — keeping Christ central while expanding impact.
By 1994, the church was recognized and operating as a nonprofit ministry under that name
The message remained firm.
The mission continued to grow.

A Season of Community Impact

In 2007, under the leadership of Pastors Benjamin and Wanda Anderson, the church became Solid Rock Family Life Center.

This season emphasized strengthening families and engaging the surrounding community in tangible ways.

During this chapter, Solid Rock expanded its reach beyond the sanctuary walls. Through vision, faith, and partnership, the Solid Rock Community Development Corporation was formed — leading to what is now known as the Village at Solid Rock, an affordable housing development serving families in Southeast Colorado Springs.

This wasn’t symbolic.
It was practical faith.

Solid Rock became known as a church that didn’t just talk about transformation — it participated in it.

That legacy is real. And it matters!

RENEWAL

A Fresh Foundation

Like many churches across the nation, Solid Rock faced significant challenges during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attendance shifted. Momentum slowed. The church world changed.
There were moments when the future felt uncertain.

But storms do not destroy what is built on the Rock — they reveal what must be strengthened.

When Pastor John and Pastor Tamara Greer stepped into leadership, it was clear this was not a season of maintenance.
It was a season of rebuilding.
Not repairing cracks.
Rebuilding foundation.

Through prayer, counsel, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, the vision became clear:
God was not asking us to preserve something familiar.
He was inviting us to build something stronger.

Solid Rock Christian Center is now in a deliberate season of renewal — strengthening systems, clarifying vision, rebuilding discipleship pathways, and laying structural foundations that will support long-term growth.

This is not about survival.
It is about alignment.

We are building:
  • Clear discipleship processes
  • Leadership development pathways
  • Stronger family ministry structures
  • Next-generation investment
  • Digital and community outreach systems
  • A culture rooted in grace and spiritual maturity

The heart is not to return to “what was.”
The heart is to become what God intends.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

Solid Rock Christian Center is entering its strongest chapter yet.

Under the leadership of Pastor John and Pastor Tamara:
  • Discipleship is intentional
  • Leadership is developed, not assumed
  • Families are strengthened
  • Youth are equipped
  • Systems are built for sustainability
  • Outreach is strategic
  • Growth is healthy and measured

We believe churches are not called to drift.
They are called to build.
The Rock has never changed.
But the foundation is being strengthened.
The vision is being clarified.
The future is being constructed with purpose.

Solid Rock Christian Center stands today not as a church trying to hold onto the past---- but as a church rebuilding with vision for the future.
And the best is ahead.
