Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Solid Rock Chistian Center | Colorado Springs, CO based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
We believe in one God who exists eternally in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the final authority for what we believe and how we live.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man—born of a virgin, the Son of God, and the One through whom all things were created.
Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus died as our substitute, shed His blood for our redemption, and everyone must be born again through faith in Him.
The Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus
We believe Jesus physically rose from the dead, ascended bodily into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father as our Mediator, High Priest, and Advocate.
Baptism and Communion
We believe in water baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) as ordinances of the Church—public declarations of faith and remembrance of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal, visible, and imminent return of Jesus Christ—both for His saints and with His saints in victory and reign.
The Believer’s Authority and Victory
We believe God has given believers authority over the enemy (Satan), and that victory is experienced as believers exercise that authority—walking in deliverance, healing, and holiness.
Satan
We believe Satan is real and personal—the enemy of God’s Kingdom and God’s people. We believe in his ultimate defeat by Jesus Christ and his potential defeat in the lives of Spirit-filled believers clothed in the armor of God.
The Local Church
We believe in the autonomy of the local church as an independent entity under the Lordship of Christ, with pastoral leadership and biblical order in governance, operations, and discipline—while honoring the added value of episcopal covering.
Leadership and Ministry Offices
We believe the Bible uses leadership terms like Bishop/Overseer, Pastor, Minister, Elder, and Deacon as designations for servant-leaders. We also believe women are gifted and enabled by the Holy Spirit to serve in these offices and titles (with the exception of Bishop/Overseer).
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine Person who indwells believers, validates them as part of the Body of Christ, and empowers them for godly living and ministry. We believe believers are commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to live under His direction and power.
Spiritual Gifts
We believe spiritual gifts continue to operate for the strengthening of the Church until the return of Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus is the Giver of these gifts, and they are given for ministry and edification without regard to ethnicity, social class, or gender.
Tongues
We believe tongues are a spiritual gift. We believe speaking in tongues can be a sign/evidence of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment, but we also believe a believer can be filled with the Spirit and not speak in tongues.
Worship
We believe in intentional, Spirit-led, corporate praise and worship as a proper response to who God is and what He has done.
Marriage and Sexuality
We believe God intentionally created human beings as male and female, reflecting His image. We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between one biological man and one biological woman, and sexual intimacy is God’s gift to be expressed exclusively within that marriage covenant. We believe any sexual activity outside biblical marriage is contrary to God’s will.
We also believe marriage is intended to be a lifelong, faithful union for the good of both spouses and for the bearing and nurturing of children. In Christ, marriage reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church.
Because of these convictions, our pastors and ministry leaders only officiate or bless marriages aligned with this biblical understanding, and our facilities are used only for weddings that uphold these convictions.
