Let it Go, Let God Heal

Aug 30, 2026  •  Irvin Murillo

What would happen if we finally set down the weight we have been carrying for years, maybe even decades? This message takes us on a deeply personal journey into the reality of unforgiveness and what it truly costs us to hold on to pain that was never ours to keep. The central truth is both simple and sobering: the person who hurt us has often moved on with their life, while we remain stuck, bent under the weight of bitterness, resentment, and isolation. Using the vivid image of a backpack that starts light enough to lift with one finger but grows heavier with every layer of pain we add, we are confronted with an honest picture of what unresolved hurt does to our relationships, our marriages, our faith, and our sense of purpose. The message draws on Ephesians 4:31-32, where Paul calls us not merely to stop destructive patterns but to replace them entirely with kindness, compassion, and the kind of forgiveness that mirrors how God has forgiven us. That distinction matters. Forgiveness is not about excusing what happened or pretending the pain was not real. It is about refusing to let that pain define the boundaries of our lives any longer. We are also pointed to Genesis 50:20, the reminder that what others intended for harm, God can redirect for good, positioning us to be a source of healing for others who are walking the same road we once walked. The invitation here is not just to feel inspired but to actually let something go, and to discover that what waits on the other side of release is not emptiness but restoration.
